Cyberspace to celluloid in 72 hours

It took James Joyce a decade to write Ulysees, but cyberspace writer Joe Queenan hammered out his novel and published it on the Web in 72 hours. And now Queenan has sold the film rights.

Brillstein-Grey Entertainment have bought the options to Queenan's Serb Heat, a novel published on the Mr. Showbiz Web site between April 30 and May 2, Reuters reported today.

Serb Heat tells the story of Serbian militiamen who travel to the United States to hunt down a journalist who has hurled insults at them over the Internet. Although the novel may not enter the literary and cinematic canon tomorrow, it can be accessed in its entirety on the Internet.

The film version of Serb Heat presumably will take longer than three days to make.
