With E3 2016 right around the corner, The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red has now confirmed that its upcoming dystopian RPG Cyberpunk 2077 will not be at the show.

"We still have a lot of work to do with Cyberpunk," CD Projekt Red boss Marcin Iwinski told Eurogamer. "It might happen that we will be at E3, and we will show something at E3, but I just want to make it clear it's not Cyberpunk."

What might the mystery game be? It could be the unannounced title that CD Projekt Red first talked about earlier this year. This game, expected to launch or at least be discussed in 2016, is described as a "new type of video game format previously unexplored by the studio."

Asked if it's this game that CD Projekt Red will show at E3, Iwinski said, "We will see." The site also pressed about whether not this game was related to the Witcher series. "Time will tell," Iwinski said.

Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to launch sometime in the 2017-2021 window. Don't expect to see more of it until CD Projekt Red can prepare an impressive showcase for it.

"Right now it's the end of talking about Cyberpunk until we can go out there and show stuff and say, 'Hey, here it is,' because that's how we do games, Iwinski said. "There is too much talking about what it possibly could be, and how big, and...

"When we show it, we should show it and explain it. So I'm going to have people not read anything about Cyberpunk probably for the next... time, whatever the time will be."

The next release for CD Projekt Red is this month's Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It is definitely the final expansion for the celebrated RPG.
