Could Apple get even cooler?

According to patent filings recently dug up by AppleInsider, Apple is seeking to create a cooler Mac with a variety of internal cooling mechanisms.

According to patent filings recently dug up by AppleInsider, Apple is seeking to create a cooler Mac with a variety of internal cooling mechanisms. This comes as no surprise to those of us who have endured the radiating heat from our MacBook Pros while working on the go.

As portable devices such as MacBook Pros, iPhones and iPod Touches, and soon the iPad become more powerful, the need for innovative cooling of internal components becomes increasingly important. One of the four applications details a method for cooling using special flow sensors that detect the amount of airflow in the internal components of your Mac and adjusting system settings accordingly.

The other applications feature a design method for opening ports, such as USB and FireWire ports for increased airflow, using a specially designed hinge to transfer heat generated by electrical components to a secondary housing located in the device, and a process using thermoelectric cooling employing the "Pelteir effect."
