Coronation Street game heads to Nintendo DS

Coronation Street is coming to the Nintendo DS in the form of a video game. Don't hold back on the balloons and cake

Nate Lanxon Special to CNET News

Coronation Street is coming to the Nintendo DS in the form of a video game. It's being developed by Mindscape, producer of many pieces of software you've never heard of, including MTV Fan Attack, Wild Horses, and everyone's favourite, Face Factory.

The game will focus on completing tasks, all set on the fictitious street in northern England. As we all know, the most gripping Coronation Street story lines focus around residents getting bludgeoned by relatives. Colour us excited if these activities make it into the final game.

A Coronation Street board game is also scheduled for release. It almost certainly won't feature such gameplay shenanigans as 'You slept with Emily Bishop -- miss nine turns' or 'Michelle Connor is drunk and at your door -- double points'.

Both the DS game and board game should be out in time for Christmas.
