On Thursday, Corel's WinZip Computing division launched WinZip 11.0 beta, a test of the latest version of its popular zip-and-unzip software. New features include the ability to open BZ2 and RAR files, higher-quality compression for WAV sound files, and a new interface resembling Windows Explorer.

WinZip was a property of Vector Capital Group until parent company Corel's awkward IPO in April--Vector remains a majority shareholder. Interested beta testers for the new WinZip 11.0 can download it here. The beta and subsequent final version come packaged with Google Toolbar and Desktop Search, as have earlier versions.
