Connect to Server vs Network Browse: Performance differences

CNET staff

MacFixIt reader Ofir, along with a few other readers, have noted a significant difference in transfer speed between using the "Connect to Server" function (available under "Go>Connect to Server" in the Finder menubar), and standard network browsing in the Finder.

"In addition to all noted problems with these two conflicting methods of connecting to a server I now found that on a gigabit network Connect to Server produces a very slow connection - no more than 3MB/s. Connecting to same server using the Network browser I got 35MB/sec.

"That's a very big difference and was repeatable with various clients on same server. All running latest 10.3.2 with all security updates."
