Compiere names Oracle veteran new CEO

Open-source business software firm hires Don Klaiss, a 15-year Oracle executive, to run the show.

Compiere, a start-up commercializing open-source business and accounting software in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) category, has named Don Klaiss its new chief executive and president.

Don Klaiss
Klaiss spent 15 years at Oracle, most recently serving as senior vice president of applications. Compiere named LaVonne Reimer CEO in February 2006, but she left the company nearly a year ago, a company representative said Tuesday. Klaiss replaces co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Jorg Janke as president. SAP, the king of the ERP market, has expressed doubts open-source ERP rivals will prove a serious threat.
