Compaq Computer plans to open more stores in Malaysia as it seeks to expand market share in the country. Plans include opening a store in Penang. Stores in Kuantan and Kota Kinabalu will follow later this year, The Star reported, quoting a Compaq Malaysia executive. Compaq stores have already been set up in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Baru, and the East Malaysian state of Sarawak. Wong Chin Fong, Compaq Malaysia's commercial PC group director, said the stores are showrooms that feature demo models of Compaq PCs and handheld products, as well as entry-level services.
CNET Malaysia staff reported from Kuching.
