Compaq cuts server prices
The PC giant reduces prices on servers and workstations, as well as on a host of peripherals.
The Houston, Texas-based company today announced price reductions in the United States on servers, server options, workstations, and networking products.
The base price of its ProLiant 1600 Servers fell by 6 percent, prices on server memory dropped by up to 36 percent, and server hard drive prices were cut by up to 22 percent, according to the PC giant.
Compaq also trimmed the price of its Professional Workstation 5100 by up to 17 percent and the price of its Professional Workstation 6000 by up to 11 percent.
In addition, the company lowered remote access products by up to 20 percent, hubs by up to 13 percent, switches by up to 34 percent, and network cards by up to 12 percent.
