Compaq Computer announced partnerships today with five companies to expand wireless, security and systems management services for e-commerce customers using Microsoft Exchange.

The new services will allow customers to easily exchange data between central computing systems and portable devices.

One of the new partners in Compaq's Business Solutions Exchange program is Canadian firm Research in Motion, which is best known for its BlackBerry mobile email device.

Other partners include VeriSign, which makes the Go Secure! software package for secure Microsoft Exchange email, and Infowave Software, whose products provide secure e-mail access between portable devices and exchange servers.

AutoProf.com, whose Profile Maker enables automated, central control of Outlook settings, and Tally Systems, which offers Veranda, a messaging management tool for Microsoft Exchange users, also joined the e-commerce group.
