Companies check out video on demand

Autodesk, Palm and Ernst & Young are among the companies using a new business video-on-demand product, communication services company Kontiki said Monday. Kontiki said the three companies are using its Delivery Management System 3.0 software and Kontiki business media services. The software and services allow companies to deliver full-screen business video to employees, partners and customers. The company said it uses a "grid delivery technology" that involves "creating a grid of underutilized PCs and servers to securely and efficiently deliver video and other rich media."

"Our customers can now afford to educate and inform their employees, partners and customers using video--which is significantly more effective than written documents and much less expensive than travel, physical distribution of CDs or multicasting," said Kontiki CEO Mike Homer.
