Commerce One appoints two sales execs

In a move to crank up its ailing software business, Commerce One has charged two executives with leading its sales force, replacing a single vice president that had headed the group. Commerce One appointed FedEx veteran Bill Fraine as senior vice president and general manager of international operations. Fraine, former senior vice president of worldwide sales at FedEx, joined Commerce One in August to lead the company's e-marketplace business after a brief stint as the CEO of the now defunct hospitality e-marketplace Zoho. Leading the company's North American and Latin American sales teams is Robert Singsank, who also joined the company in August and spent 16 years in sales at IBM. Both men replace Vice President Mark Biestman, who is leaving Commerce One. Commerce One's revenue and software license sales slipped in the fourth quarter of 2001 compared with the third quarter and the year-earlier quarter.
