Comedic Steve Jobs film to debut online next month
Adding to the pair of theatrical movies about the late Apple co-founder, Funny or Die has its own Jobs biopic coming soon.
Yep, there's another Steve Jobs movie on the way.
No, it's not the one featuring Ashton Kutcher as the late, mercurial technology executive. And it's not the one still being penned by Aaron Sorkin either.
Instead, it's a 60-minute film produced by Funny or Die, the same comedy site that made "The Landlord," a two-minute clip featuring actor Will Ferrell and co-creator Adam McKay's 2-year-old daughter that's since tallied just shy of 80 million views.
According to The New York Times, Funny or Die has put together a film called "iSteve" starring Justin Long, the same actor Apple tapped for its famous switch ads featuring Long and John Hodgman as personifications of Apple's Mac and Microsoft's Windows PCs.
Jorge Garcia of "Lost" fame will play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and James Urbaniak and Michaela Watkins will play Bill and Melinda Gates.
"In true Internet fashion, it's not based on very thorough research -- essentially a cursory look at the Steve Jobs Wikipedia page," Ryan Perez, "iSteve" writer and director, told the Times. "It's very silly. But it looks at his whole life."
The film will debut online on April 15, just days ahead of when Kutcher's film was originally supposed to hit theaters. That film's release was delayed last week, and its creators have not announced new timing.
