Com21, a high-speed modem maker, is closing its wireless business unit. The broadband equipment provider had earlier announced plans to spin off the wireless group as a separate company if it was able to secure appropriate funding. But it has not been able to, the company said in a statement released Friday. The 19-employee division had offices in New York and Milpitas, Calif.
"Clearly we are disappointed," Craig Soderquist, Com21 president and chief executive, said in a statement. "As we mentioned in January, Com21 is focusing on our core strengths and improving operating results, and this move, while difficult, aligns with that commitment."
