Let's get your party started. Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast

This competition is only open to Australian CNET readers aged 18 years and over who have registered to receive a CNET newsletter.

Get out your d20 and sharpen up your pencils, because Dungeons & Dragons is back with a shiny new 5th Edition for Christmas. The granddaddy of all other roleplaying games and the inspiration for a generation worth of video games and films celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, and what better way to celebrate than with a brand new edition -- and a CNET competition!

This Christmas, CNET has teamed up with Wizards of the Coast, makers of both Dungeons & Dragons and the world-leading trading card game Magic: The Gathering, to bring you an amazing D&D Christmas prize package worth over $1,000.

One lucky reader will take home the following amazing package to get themselves and their group of friends up and running:

  • 5E Starter Set (AU$25)
  • 5E Player's Handbook x4 (AU$240)
  • 5E Dungeon Master's Guide and Monster Manual x1 (AU$120)
  • Autographed 5E Player's Handbook x1 (AU$60)
  • Autographed 5E Monster Manual x1 (AU$60)
  • Autographed 5E Dungeon Master's Guide x1 (AU$60)
  • 5E Adventures x2 (AU$70)
  • A D&D Accessory package (AU$170)
  • A Food & Drink Voucher worth AU$200

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post telling us about the first character you plan on creating for the new 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons (you must be registered to comment, and must be an Australian resident, 18 years or older and subscribed to a CNET newsletter to be eligible).

You can find out more about the classes and races of the new edition at the D&D website, download the basic rules here or take a look at the books at your local bookstore or games retailer.

The CNET team will judge our favourite character concept as the winner of this amazing prize pack.

The competition runs from today until 5.00 p.m. Monday, December 15. We'll announce the lucky winner on Wednesday, December 17. Read the full terms and conditions for this competition here.

The new 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons is available now, with the Dungeon Master's Guide hitting stores December 9.

Good luck!
