The heroic astronaut has saved the day, and all the alien invaders are dead. Now who's going to clean up that awful mess? Well, you.

There are guts all over the floor, bullet casings littered about and boxes just thrown willy nilly every which way. It's all well and good, of course, for the hero, who gets to go home and have a well-deserved glass of space beer and a long, hot space shower, but someone has to clean up after the epic battle to save the otherwise still perfectly functional facility.

Enter Viscera Cleanup Detail, an Unreal-based, first-person sandbox-style game that puts you in the janitor's shoes.

Armed with a mop, bucket, rubber gloves and biohazard waste bin, your job is to go over the entire facility and clean up the mayhem, putting everything back to rights. There are no points and no timer, just you and your mop. It's kind of zen in a strange, macabre sort of way.

It's currently available for Windows download in unfinished alpha form, and developer Runestorm has listed it on Steam Greenlight. If you like what you see, stop by and give it a vote.

This one's going right next to Robot Vacuum Simulator 2013 in our digital collection.
