Cisco to wire multitenant buildings

Cisco Systems will soon ship new networking equipment that will allow telecommunications service providers or property owners to wire apartments, hotels and offices with high-speed Net access. The equipment will allow service providers or property owners to offer tenants high-speed Net access, the ability to make phone calls over the Net and video-on-demand.Cisco competes against 3Com, Tut Systems and others who also sell networking hardware that connects multitenant buildings to the Net. Cisco's new products, which will ship in April, include a new Catalyst 2900 switch. Prices for the switch start at $3,295.
