A Bloomberg report has revealed that the networking giant has hired Barclay's to offload the consumer router division.

It's not been a great year for Linksys, with Cisco's incredibly botched introduction of its ill-directed Connect Cloud software. Cisco eventually made good by providing "classic" versions of the firmware for its routers, but like IBM's DeskStar hard drives, for many, the relationship would never be the same again.

Bloomberg's source mentioned that Cisco is likely to make much less than the US$500 million it paid for Linksys as it looks to return back to the enterprise market.
