Chipmaker Via takes over wireless lab

Via Technologies, the Taiwanese chipset manufacturer, announced on Wednesday that it will take over the wireless applications design center it co-established with Swedish microelectronics institute Acreo in May 2001. Located in Lund, Sweden, the center looks at ways to add wireless technologies into Via's existing PC products. Like its competitors, Via believes that radios, like Wi-Fi receivers, will be integrated into standard PC parts like microprocessors or chipsets in the coming decade.
