Chip design companies TransDimension and ARM are joining forces to promote , a connection technology that lets devices like cameras and printers exchange data directly. The companies said this week that TransDimension's intellectual property for designing chips with USB OTG capabilities is the first of its kind to be certified by ARM. The certification "lowers the risk for any ARM customer who wants to put USB OTG in," said David Murray, vice president of marketing for TransDimension.

TransDimension and ARM also formed an alliance to market TransDimension's USB OTG chip design to ARM partners. ARM designs chips that are used in products including cell phones and digital cameras.
