Cell phones that keep on ticking

A cell phone isn't worth much if it can't deliver satisfactory battery life. CNET offers a few recent handsets that will last a long time.

Though battery life is an important point to consider when buying a cell phone, it often gets buried under the flashy features that today's devices offer. Manufacturers like to make promises, but those claims may not pan out during everyday use. Big displays, fast processors, and a high-speed data network can zap your battery quickly, and it doesn't help when you're constantly switching between features.

Long-lasting cell phones: Handsets with great battery life

That's why CNET tests the battery life of every cell phone that we've reviewed. We started years ago when they did nothing more than make calls and have continued through to today for smartphones that let you organize your entire life. Some handsets are better than others, of course, and you can find the complete results in our cell phone battery life charts. Yet, we also can offer our list of our recent handsets that have delivered the most power. These are the devices--both smartphone and not--that have lasted the longest when making a call. We'll be updating it occasionally, so be sure to check back.
