CDW first in new Sun sales channel

Sun Microsystems will begin selling low-end servers through CDW, a mainstream catalog and online computer retailer. CDW is part of a new category of sales partners--volume channel providers--for Sun, the company said. Under a deal announced Tuesday, CDW will sell Sun software as well as its special-purpose Cobalt servers, low-end rack-mountable Netra servers and two-processor servers for smaller groups. In exchange, CDW will get access to Sun's iForce programs that make it easier to prepare products for small- and medium-sized-business customers.
