CA switches CTO roles

shifts tech exec responsibilities.

CA shifted responsibilities of its top technical executives on Wednesday, naming Mark Barrenechea chief technology officer and putting former CTO Yogesh Gupta in a business development role.

The company, formerly called Computer Associates, said that Barrenechea will head research on management-related technologies, including RFID. He will report to CEO John Swainson. Gupta was named senior vice president of Business Development where he be involved in technical evaluations of acquisitions. In a release, CA said that company has spent $1.6 billion on 10 acquisitions over the past 18 months.
