Buzz Out Loud 1528: Is Apple killing its own app business? (Podcast)

Amazon and Vudu both launch full-featured Web apps for Apple's iPad to avoid the "Apple tax" and, in Amazon's case, so that they can actually have a link to their store in their mobile experience. Is Apple accidentally driving people toward a device-agnostic tech future? I hope so! Also, Nokia is out of North America, we're planning our visit to the Star Trek resort, and more Bronies than expected listen to BOL!

I live in Ealing, West London in the UK which is one of the many towns in London that got trashed by the rioting on Monday.

There have been quite a few reports of youths using BBM and social media to co-ordinate attacks, however a great thing happened on Tuesday as real people used social media to co-ordinate big groups to clean up London.

Hopefully you can see this BBC news video report at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14472567 as it shows the “”Broom army”" that met up at the towns that were trashed and cleaned up the streets.

There is a great shot of a mexican wave of brooms and a cute 5 year old kid saying how she is clearing up London.

Love the show and keep up the “”Show-mance”",

Steve – keep up the great sound effects to take the p**s out of Brian and Molly.

Brian I usually just sit back and listen to you talk junk about webOS but no more! I bought the HP touchpad the day it came out just like my pre minus 2 years ago. And I tell you I am loving it! I feel if you or Molly just took it home and played with it for a week you would understand the iPad is nice for games, but if you really want to get work done the webOS is your best choice. And even if it this first generation product has some flaws I can confidently say it will at least be the number 2 tablet in the market behind the iPad in a year or two. And the touchpad already has more tablet apps available then honeycomb!

Also apple will never sue HP over the touchpad or webOS because, palm now HP has the patent to smartphone! You heard it right. So if if HP decides to licence webos any time soon I bet there will be a mass exodus from android to webOS just for safety reasons.
