You mentioned this in your discussion of “”your cell phone as your wallet”", but I wanted to point out that this idea would be a bad deal for servers and valets. Any industry that derives a large amount of their salary from pure tipping would be hurt big time. Yes, in areas where someone can add a tip to the total that would be fine, but there are countless other areas that the tip is just that a gift given for services rendered. I can see a valet really struggling if this idea was widely adopted. Someone mentioned that checks have their place along with credit cards. All along cash has had it’s place as well. As long as cash can remain and option I’m cool with the virtual wallet. But if Google thinks I’m giving up my Dead Presidents for them they have another thing coming.

I’m not bias because I’m a doorman at a hotel, either.

Hey Buzzcrew,

I love the idea of NFC, and I can’t wait to see the many potential benefits become realities. In response to what one emailer said on Friday about how the carriers don’t care about you; that has nothing to do with NFC payments. Payments and issues with these payments would be handled through credit card companies and banks, just as they are today. You would still have a credit card, but it would just be a digital object instead of a piece of plastic. Just because you use NFC doesn’t mean that you become a client of the AT&T Bank of Evil. Sure, it can also be argued that NFC is not be as secure as cash, but the added securities of smartphones make it much more secure than plastic credit cards.

What’s up Buzz Crew, I just wanted to point out a obvious opportunity for Apple thanks to the beef between Pay Pal and Google, its quite simple, Apple hates Google, Pay Pal probably hates Google, so why don’t the two hook up (computer love style) and hate Google together. Apple will eventualy have to have NFC in they’re phones, and if they can get a player like Pay Pal to work with them, they would be a serious contender in the NFC race. Just stating the obvious.

On the show, Brian tried to bring up an example of an app that exists on other platforms like iOS and Android that you wouldn't mind paying more for on WP7. He mentioned Netflix as an example although WP7 already has had Neflix since it was launched but what Angry Birds (yes, I know the released date was pushed back). You pay for it on iOS, its free on Android and ChromeOS and it probably might end up costing more on WP7, however, it'll come with Xbox Live Achievements which will make it sell like hotcakes. There are a lot of things that WP7 comes with that you don't need an app for like Facebook where it's just integrated into everything. It isn't just about the number of apps. For the people that really care about that though WP7 has over 18,000 apps which is more than Android and iOS had when they were that age and its going up exponentially.
