I just noticed this on the Roku Private channel, looks promising! Can watch the basic local channels ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, CW, PBS for free on the roku. Apparently they use the antenna in Pennsylvania and broadcast that. Then you have options to pay for other channels packages like espn, etc….. by day, week, month etc…. Do you have any details on this thing and is this legal at all?

Hey Buzz Crew!

Scott the podcaster from Ottawa, Canada here. In episode 1409 you talked about Borders going bankrupt and Kobo reassuring its users that they can still get e-books. This might be partly due to how well it sold up here, especially at Christmas. The Kobo is the official reader for Chapters, one of the largest bookstores up here. I see Kobos in the wild far more often than Kindles. This is likely because Chapters has the rights to many more books in Canada than Amazon does. Anyway, here’s hoping that us Canadians can keep the Kobo going strong!

Love the show!

Hey Buzz crew,

I work in book publishing. Within the last year, there’s been jubilation as Amazon has brought their eBook cut down from 70% to 30%.
That move included its fair share of price fixing (price of eBook has to be between 1.99 and 9.99, and the physical book cannot be available for less than the eBook). If book publishers haven’t been able to take Amazon down for that structure, I’m not sure that subscription service providers will be able to take down Apple for rolling out the same.

How awesome would it be if Amazon was the one who took the stand?
Every statement they made could be used by the publishing industry against them. That’d be sweet.

Love the show!

Andrew, the publishing hack
