Buy a Samsung Galaxy S3, get Olympics tickets
If you're one of the first 50 people to buy a Samsung Galaxy S3, you'll get tickets to this summer's Olympics.
Samsung is giving away tickets to the Olympics with its Galaxy S3 smart phone, Android Central reports.
If you're among the first 50 people to pre-order the handset at London's Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, you'll be handed tickets to this summer's sweaty sport-fest along with your phone.
I f you pre-order, you can pick up your S3 on 29 May -- that's Tuesday. Everyone who doesn't get their orders in early will have to wait until Wednesday, when the phone goes on sale nationwide.
Those wanting to pick up Olympics tickets will have to get themselves down to the Samsung store in Westfield for 5pm. Then you'll have to wait an hour, with the first phones going on sale at 6pm. Presumably that wait is to generate buzz. Or make customers feel like sheep maybe.
The S3 is the official phone of the Olympics, so there is some tie-in between all that running and jumping and the mobile. O2 is also offering a special Olympics-themed version of the Samsung Galaxy Note, the phone/tablet with a 5.3-inch screen, which is nowhere near as gaudy as some of the other patriotic gadget fare on offer this summer.
The S3 was announced at an event in London earlier this month. It's right at the top of Samsung's smart phone range, featuring a 4.8-inch screen that's 720p HD, the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android, and a monster quad-core processor.
New features include S-Voice (Samsung's voice-activated personal assistant that's a bit like Apple's Siri), Pop-Up Play (for watching videos in a floating player over the browser), and Smart Stay (which keeps the screen on until you look away). The downside is that these features do rather chomp through the battery life.
