Business.com says it has acquired the traffic and URL of Work.com, a move that further consolidates the nascent market for business search directories. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Visitors to Work.com will be automatically redirected to Business.com's site. Work.com used to be the default home page for Dow Jones, which partially owns and operates the site along with Excite@Home and Work.com Chief Executive Don Hutchison. The deal gives Business.com a significant addition to its traffic. Work.com attracted 600,000 unique visitors to its site in March, while Business.com drew 1.2 million, the companies said.
