British telephone service provider British Telecom Cellnet on Monday began offering small and medium-sized businesses a way to launch a wireless network for their work forces. The company is relying on software from Seven, which claims to have been the first to create a way for network operators like BT to sell a wireless service directly to their customers.
Previously, large carriers that offered mobile Internet services to businesses re-sold products provided by companies such as Wireless Knowledge. The companies shared the profits with the carriers and handled most of the customer service. Seven's software creates the same type of wireless services but is located on BT's computer network, said Seven founder Bill Nguyen.
