With PC computer sales continuing to flatline and job cuts in the thousands, Intel is looking for brighter pastures beyond laptop and desktop CPUs. This year's Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco will highlight the chip-maker's continued pivot to the post-PC landscape; it's expected to include everything from virtual reality and machine learning to cloud-friendly hardware and autonomous driving.

The show kicks off Tuesday, August 16 at 9 a.m. PT (12 p.m. ET; 5 p.m. in the UK; 2 a.m. Wednesday AEST) with a keynote address from CEO Brian Krzanich.

You can watch the entire event live here, and stay tuned for follow-up coverage throughout the week from CNET's Stephen Shankland, Dong Ngo, Lexy Savvides and Sean Hollister.
