Apple accessory maker Twelve South has written yet another chapter in the BookBook saga, but you'll be hard-pressed to find any words within.
Owners of the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air can now get their mitts on the $79 BookBook for Air, a throwback case inspired by hardcovers of yesteryear. The uniquely distressed leather case has two hard covers on each side, a rigid spine, and hardened corners that add extra protection while boosting your hipster points. Within, Twelve South notes that the Air "rests between two super soft, chocolate brown padded cushions" and is stabilized by two soft elastic bands. Dual zippers complete the story.
The leather-bound case won't add too much heft to an Air setup, as it weighs in at 13.5 ounces (which is about a fourth of the weight of the Apple's itty-bitty laptop). While the high price of the BookBook may turn some people away, there's a good chance its false exterior could help protect your computer from thieves. Just pray you don't run into someone who has a penchant for pilfering paperbacks.
Similar Twelve South cases for the MacBook Pro and iPad are already on the shelves.
