Booklets for your biz

Dorian Benkoil
Sheesh, there's a lot of free stuff around for small businesses. I'm begining to feel it's a full-time job just figuring out the stuff that's worthwhile. Here's one tip: I think the booklets you can get for free when you subscribe to e-mail sends from Entrepreneur.com have some really good tips and are truly directed toward small businesses, unlike some other publishers that seem to think a small business is anything with less than 1,000 employees or $50 million a year in sales.

Here are some of the tips that stick in my mind and the booklets they're from:

  • Buy used printer cartridges to save money. (101 Ways to Save Money in Your Business)
  • Teach a local course as an "expert"; you get paid to do something that's good marketing for you. (same booklet)
  • Assume multiple online identities--for example, one to deal with customers, another for vendors. (Growing Your Business 1, 2, 3)
  • There's a lot more. Take a gander and download the PDFs. (Full disclosure: Entrepreneur.com is a content partner with CNET. But that has nothing to do with these recommendations.)
