Blizzard confirms Overwatch PS4/Xbox One editions, release date

No longer a PC exclusive, Blizzard's first new franchise in 17 years is coming to consoles.

Blizzard has confirmed that Overwatch is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on its homepage. The image also points to a release date "on or before June 21st, 2016."

Game Informer reported earlier that retailer GameStop has "received word" that multiplayer shooter Overwatch, Blizzard's first new franchise in 17 years, is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Previously, the game was confirmed only for PC.

The official announcement is likely coming at BlizzCon, so you won't have to wait long. The annual event begins tomorrow, November 6, with an opening ceremony at 11 AM PDT. We're also expecting to see the first trailer for the upcoming Warcraft movie during BlizzCon.
