Smart-home shoppers searching for a sweet deal, listen up; Best Buy may have something to smile about. As part of a special Black Friday promotion, the retail chain will significantly slash prices on its stock of Nest smart thermostats, Dropcam Web-connected cameras and select Philips Hue LED light bulbs.
Starting November 27 and running through December 1, Best Buy will offer the Nest smart thermostat for $200 instead of its usual price of $250. Similarly, the price of the Dropcam HD (aka Dropcam) will fall by $49, down to $100 from $149. To be clear, this is the originalmodel, which, though it supports 720p HD resolution, isn't as sharp as the full 1080p digital eye you'll find on the step-up version, the $199 .
And for customers up for splurging on the Philips Hue Bloom Accent light ($80) for free. Keep in mind that Philips makes the Hue Starter Kit in two flavors, one using BR-30 floodlights and another with standard A19 light bulbs. Both versions, however, support Philips Hue technology, so they are dimmable, color shifting, as well as wireless and controllable via the Philips Hue mobile app.($200), a three-smart-bulb-and-hub combo, Best Buy will generously throw in the
It sounds very tempting, especially if you've been eyeing smart-home gizmos but have been stuck on the fence waiting for the right moment to make your purchase. Also nice is that you don't have to brave stores in person; these deals can be had through the Best Buy website in addition to shopping inside brick-and-mortar locations.
