Quest for Fame features music from rock band Aerosmith and casts players in the role of an aspiring guitar player whose dream is to make it to the top. The game musically challenges players by providing a Virtual Pick game controller that can be strummed against any solid surface to match various guitar rhythms.

The outcome of the game is determined by the player's ability as judged by a cast of animated characters. If you're good, you'll play in front of thousands of screaming fans, if you're bad, you'll play at the low-class Polyester Lounge.
