'Beauty and the Beast' teaser trailer puts emphasis on the 'tease'

Hermione, is that you? Emma Watson makes a brief appearance, but the live-action preview tantalizes more than it tells.

No one can complain the new teaser trailer for the live-action remake of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" gives too much away. It's all shadows and hints, tantalizing peeks and dangled promise. If you didn't know the plot from the classic story, you might think it's a Gothic horror story (which...kind of).

The powerhouse cast (Emma Watson as Belle, Dan "Downton Abbey" Stevens as Beast, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts) is hardly hinted at, with Watson appearing only for a split second to reach out for the iconic rose and utter one word.

But fans will delight in a few treats: The slashed oil painting appears to be a young version of the blue-eyed Beast in human form. That's got to be Cogsworth (Ewan McGregor) and Lumiere (Ian McKellan) heard but not seen. No sign of the Beast, but Watson makes up for it, and the creepy castle atmosphere is as cobwebby and candle-sputtery as it should be. Fans (including brides who wore the Belle wedding gown) have to wait till March 2017 to be Disney's guest.
