It's launch day for Batman: Arkham Origins, the latest in the series of games about DC Comic's famous caped crusader.

Origins is a prequel, set before both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, and it's trying to offer a bit of a fresh take on the Dark Knight, with Gotham still struggling to understand its new vigilante protector.

Warner Bros has put together a 17-minute gameplay walkthrough to give you an idea of what to expect from Origins.

Our quick hands-on impression is that Origins is quite similar to the first two titles. There are a few tweaks to combat and some other games modes, but for the most part, if you're familiar with Asylum and City, you'll pick up Origins extremely quickly.

Whether that similarity is a good thing or not remains to be seen — we'll have a full review next week.

Batman: Arkham Origins is available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and is rated M.
