Barnes & Noble to kick off Wi-Fi trials

Book retailer Barnes & Noble confirmed Tuesday that it plans to test Wi-Fi access in two-dozen stores in the Atlanta and Seattle areas starting as early as late August and ending in December. Wi-Fi is wireless networking technology based on the 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g standards and allows subscribers to access a network wirelessly and share resources.

New York, N.Y.-based Barnes & Noble will study the results of the test to determine whether it will move forward with implementing the service, according to a company representative. Pricing for the service hasn't been determined.
