W. Steve Albrecht, associate dean of the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University, has joined Red Hat's board of directors, the leading Linux seller said Wednesday. Albrecht is a certified public accountant, certified internal auditor and author of more than 20 books.

The publication Accounting Today named Albrecht as one of the 100 most influential accountants in the United States in 1997, 2001 and 2002, and he was given a Cressey Award by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. In a statement, he praised Red Hat's "uncompromising principles" and "straightforward approach."
