AT&T U-verse Mobile to come with Win Phone 7

The carrier announces its U-verse TV mobile app for the three Windows Phone 7 smartphones that it will offer.

NEW YORK--The three Windows Phone 7 handsets that AT&T announced this morning in New York will include AT&T's U-verse Mobile app, the carrier said in a press release.

U-verse is AT&T's digital TV service that competes with cable and satellite in people's homes. The mobile app lets subscribers download TV shows via Wi-Fi onto their phones at no extra charge.

In addition to playing shows, the mobile app can manage DVR recordings at home, including scheduling recordings. If you're not a subscriber, Windows Phone 7 users can still get the service for $9.99 per month. This is a typical price for mobile entertainment on other platforms, including Netflix and Hulu Plus for Apple's iPhone.

To sweeten the deal and pique interest, AT&T is offering a 30-day free trial of U-verse Mobile and also of Zune Pass, Microsoft's music subscription service. These offers are part of AT&T's Entertainment Pack for Windows Phone 7 owners. The pack also includes the Xbox Live Arcade game Ilomilo, which AT&T is offering exclusively to those who buy new Windows phones through the end of 2010.
