AT&T nabs Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 for October 24
Ma Bell's next Android will be a wallet-friendly take on the plus-sized smartphone.
AT&T kicked off the week today by announcing the arrival its latest Android handset. Following closely on the heels of the Galaxy Note 4 , the 6-inch Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 joins Ma Bell's lineup on October 24.
As a more affordable take on the plus-sized Android experience, the Mega 2 features mid-range hardware. Details include a 6-inch 720 display, 8-megapixel rear camera, and 16GB internal storage.
Powered by Android 4.4 KitKat and Samsung's TouchWiz UI, the Galaxy Mega 2 also offers custom touches such as Ultra Power Saving Mode and Private Mode. While not quite as robust as the Note family, the Mega line is considerably more budget-friendly.
AT&T will sell the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 for $150 with a two-year service agreement or $475 outright. Qualified customers can spread payments out on an AT&T Next plan; $19.80 a month with Next 18, or $23.75 a month with Next 12. As a reminder, customers who take advantage of a Next plan through October 31 can earn a $100 bill credit.
