AST, FedEx to offer next-day service

AST Research has teamed up with Federal Express to offer next-day replacement service for Ascentia notebook users.

The service plan, called Express ONE, allows customers who are having technical problems with their notebooks to report the problem and have a fully functional replacement sent to them the next business day.

A service technician will then unpack the replacement, remove the hard-drive, PC cards, or additional memory from the malfunctioning unit and install them in the replacement. The technician then packs up and ships the old unit back to AST, and the customer keeps the new one.

The Express ONE service costs users $60 for one year or $198 for three.
