Grab ride-hailer lets users pay with credit card points

The partnership between Grab and Citibank will be available in Singapore and the Philippines, and will be available in three other Asian countries soon.

If you have no idea what to do with all the credit card points that you've accumulated, why not use it to pay for your next ride? That is, if you own a Citibank credit card and are using it on Southeast Asia's Grab's ride-hailing platform.

The points redemption service will launch in Singapore and the Philippines first on September 8, followed shortly after in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia, says Grab. Users can use 360 points per S$1 ($0.70) to pay for their Grab rides.

For now, users who sign up for the program by adding their Citibank credit cards to Grab's GrabPay mobile payment platform will get a discounted first ride. Additionally, if you sign up for a credit card through the app you'll get S$50 worth of free rides.
