Apple updates iTunes, fixes iOS syncing hangs
Apple has released an update to iTunes, which addresses hanging issues when syncing with iPads, iPhones, and other iOS devices.
Apple has released an update to iTunes, which in part addresses a couple of prominent hanging issues that iOS users have experienced when using the program with iPhone and iPad devices. In addition the update fixes a problem in which video previews in the iTunes store skip during playback.
The update (version 10.2.2) should be available via Software Update, but is also available as a 75-78MB standalone download for OS X and Windows systems. If you do not already have iTunes installed, the latest version can also be downloaded from the iTunes Web site.
The full list of problems fixed are:
- Addresses an issue where iTunes may become unresponsive when syncing an iPad.
- Resolves an issue which may cause syncing photos with iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to take longer than necessary.
- Fixes a problem where video previews on the iTunes Store may skip while playing.
- Addresses other issues that improve stability and performance.
In addition to resolving hanging issues with iOS devices, if you use iTunes on Windows machines, the update addresses a memory corruption security bug with the WebKit framework that could allow for a man-in-the-middle attack and arbitrary code execution.
