Apple trims prices on refurbished iPads

Prices on refurbished editions of the original iPad and the iPad 2 have been cut by anywhere from $20 to $50 direct from Apple.

Anyone looking for a deal on an iPad or iPad 2 will now find even lower prices on refurbished models, courtesy of Apple's online store.

The price cuts extend from the 16GB Wi-Fi-only version to the 64GB Wi-Fi+3G edition. The original and second-model iPads are included in the deal. But it's likely too soon for refurbished flavors of the "new" third-gen iPad to start popping up.

As detailed by the folks at MacRumors, the following list displays the new prices compared with the old ones:

16 GB Wi-Fi: $319, down $30 from $349
32 GB Wi-Fi: $399, down $50 from $449
64 GB Wi-Fi: $499, down $50 from $449
16 GB Wi-Fi+3G: $449, down $30 from $479
32 GB Wi-Fi+3G: $529, down $50 from $579
64 GB Wi-Fi+3G: $629, down $50 from $679

Original iPad

16 GB Wi-Fi: $279, down $20 from $299
32 GB Wi-Fi: $349, down $50 from $399
64 GB Wi-Fi: $449, down $50 from $499
16 GB Wi-Fi+3G: $379, down $20 from $399
32 GB Wi-Fi+3G: $449, down $50 from $499
64 GB Wi-Fi+3G: $549, down $50 from $599

All the variations are currently listed on Apple's Web site with the exception of the 16GB Wi-Fi-only original iPad and iPad 2. A notice from Apple does say that supplies are limited but updated frequently.

Of course, you can score better deals on used iPads at eBay and other online marketplaces. But Apple's refurbished units are fully tested and certified and come with a one-year warranty. They also include a new battery and new outer shell.
