Apple has identified a problem with some its Time Capsule wireless backup devices and is offering to repair or replace them.
According to a note posted on its site, some Time Capsules sold between February 2008 and June 2008 could shut down unexpectedly or may not power on at all. A quick search of Apple's support site shows a variety of threads from customers with the problem.
Apple said that some Time Capsules with serial numbers between XX807XXXXXX and XX814XXXXXX may be affected. The serial number is found on the bottom of the device..
If a Time Capsule falls within the range of serial numbers in the support document, Apple says owners could be eligible for repair or replacement. If you already paid for a repair of your Time Capsule for this issue, you can contact Apple for a possible refund.
Instructions on how to proceed with your repair or replacement are available on Apple's site and depend on the country you live in.
