Apple CEO Tim Cook will deliver the commencement speech for the graduating class of 2017 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, one of the top engineering schools in the world.
Though Cook never attended MIT (he received his BS from Auburn University then his MBA from Duke University), he is recognized for his achievements and innovation as CEO of Apple, which began in 2011.
"While faithfully maintaining his integrity and humility, Tim runs one of the most influential companies on the planet," the 2017 class president of MIT told MIT News. The class is also "beyond excited to have him with us for Commencement." The commencement is scheduled for Friday, June 9, 2017.
Other notable people who delivered commencement speeches at MIT include Megan Smith, the CTO of the United States and an assistant to President Obama; Dropbox CEO Drew Houston; and the actor Matt Damon.
MIT didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
