Apple's online store is down.
Apple took down its online marketplace this morning, saying only that it will "be back" after the company is done updating it. The move has become standard operating procedure for Apple prior to a special event.
Today's special event is expected to center on the iPad Mini. It's currently believed that the iPad Mini will ship with a 7.85-inch screen and a much lower price than Apple's current slate, putting it in direct competition with Google's Nexus 7 and the Amazon Kindle Fire.
Aside from the iPad Mini, Apple could unveil other new products, including a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display and a new Mac Mini.
We'll know for sure what Apple has planned when the company's special event kicks off at 10 a.m. PT; CNET's live coverage will start an hour before that. Expect the Apple Store to come back after that event is over.
