Apple reportedly halving iPhone 5c production
Reports suggest that Apple will be halving production of the colourful phone in the wake of low consumer demand compared to the iPhone 5s.
Apple is said to be halving its daily production of the iPhone 5c, from 300,000 to 150,000 units.
The report, from Chinese site C Technology, doesn't give a firm reason for the cut, but it's believed to be a result of reduced demand for the colourful phone compared with the iPhone 5s.
Both the iPhone 5c and the flagship iPhone 5s launched last month, with many reports suggesting that the 5s is proving the more popular of the two.
While the 5c boasts coloured shells and a lower price tag, in many markets, Australia included, the price difference isn't particularly significant.
At the time of writing, the Australian Apple Store is listing the iPhone 5c as "available to ship within 24 hours", while the availability of the 5s is rather cryptically listed as "October".
Interestingly, MacRumors has reports that the price of the iPhone 5c via China's parallel import market has dropped significantly, with some sources saying they can be found for as little as 2600 yuan (around AU$450).
