Apple releases Safari 1.2

Apple releases Safari 1.2

CNET staff

Apple has released the Panther-only Safari 1.2 as a 7 MB download and through Software Update.

The new release "improves compatibility with websites and web applications by providing increased support for standards, adds support for personal certificate authentication, and works with Java 1.4.2 to enable websites that rely on LiveConnect for communication between JavaScript and Java applets. This update also provides improved application stability, full keyboard access for navigating web pages, and the ability to resume interrupted downloads."

So far (in the first hours after Safari 1.2's release), we've received a few reports so far of problems loading images and Java applets - possibly conjugated to the simultaneously release Java 1.4.2 update.
